DOES LASER HAIR REMOVAL HURT?
People typically compare the feeling to a rubber band snap for a fraction of a second with each pulse. Some areas of the body can be more sensitive (underarms, bikini, or upper lip). Everyone's pain tolerance varies though. After each treatment, the hair becomes lighter or thinner and the pain subsides, which makes it easier to handle the laser. Compared to waxing as an alternative, laser hair removal can offer less discomfort and most clients find treatment quite tolerable. The medical grade chiller helps to lessen the discomfort as well. This is a cooling system used during the process.
HOW DOES THE LASER WORK?
The laser beam is absorbed by the melanin in the hair and converted to heat which damages the follicle. After it heals, the follicle is smaller and it continues to get smaller with each session.
WHAT ARE THE SIDE EFFECTS?
Typically there is only ever temporary side effects like; redness, swelling, and pain like a mild sunburn. Blisters, crusting, whiteheads, and/or pigment changes are rare and usually only occur if you do not follow the requirements before the procedure.
SHOULD I SHAVE? TWEEZE? WAX?
Please shave! We request that all our clients come freshly shaved for their treatments. We advise that while receiving Laser Hair Removal treatments all clients avoid waxing, tweezing, threading or using any depilatory creams for about 6 weeks prior to treatments. If you tweeze there is no hair for the laser to hit and those hairs grow back constantly.
TANNING/ TATTOOS?
We cannot perform Laser Hair Removal on those that use tanning beds before treatments. This can lead to burns, so please wait 6 weeks after you last tanning session to come in. With that being said if you have a heavy tan even from the sun please wait till the tan fades to schedule your appointment as burns can also occur! Tattoos also cannot be lasered as it can eliminate them, but don't worry, we can do the area around them!
WHY ARE MULTIPLE TREATMENTS NEEDED TO ACHIEVE HAIR REMOVAL?
Laser Hair Removal requires a series of treatments because it is only effective on hair follicles in growth phase, or the anagen phase. Growth cycles for hair changes from body area to body area and from person to person. Facial hair typically grows more quickly, and body hair typically has a longer growth cycle. Length between treatments can vary from 4-6 weeks. At least 4 weeks is needed for progression to the anagen stage. Many clients enjoy upwards of 20% hair reduction after just a single treatment, and some are 90%-95% hair-free in just eight treatments.
HOW MANY SESSIONS ARE REQUIRED?
With each treatment, hair is reduced and for most clients’ best results are seen after six-eight sessions. The actual number of sessions needed will differ depending on your hair color, hair type, body area, and skin tone. If you feel more than 8 treatments are needed, we will continue to treat the purchased area at 60% off the per treatment price, until you are satisfied with your results. This includes any touch ups down the road if you feel they are needed! We stand by our work!
WHICH AREAS OF THE BODY CAN BE TREATED?
Treatments are safe and effective on all areas of the body with unwanted hair and on all types of skin. The most commonly treated areas include: Brazilian, legs, arms, chest, back, shoulders, stomach, beard, lip & chin.
HOW FAST IS EACH SESSION?
Each pulse of the laser takes a fraction of a second and can treat many hairs at the same time. The laser can treat an area approximately the size of a quarter every second. To give a couple examples; Lip or Chin: 5 minutes, Brazilian or Underarms: 15-20 minutes, Legs: 45 minutes.
HOW DOES SPIDER VEIN REDUCTION WORK?
The laser works by coagulating the blood in the small veins with a blast of energy from the Nd:YAG 1064mn.
WHAT VEINS ARE ACCEPTABLE FOR TREATMENT?
Veins can be red or blue/purple and need to be smaller than a pencil lead. They must not be painful and must not be Vericose Veins.
HOW MANY SESSIONS FOR SPIDER VEIN REDUCTION?
Typically 1 for smaller veins and 1-3 for larger and darker veins.
